Welcome to Hythe. These Terms govern your use of Hythe, a friendship app available at hythe.io. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Hythe.
Hythe is operated by Noel DeLisle as an individual, based in Tennessee, USA.
Who can use Hythe
You can use Hythe if you:
- Are between 25 and 45 years old
- Reside in the United States
- Can form a legally binding contract
- Have not been previously banned from Hythe
- Are not registered as a sex offender on any U.S. registry
- Are not prohibited from using Hythe under applicable law
If you don't meet these requirements, don't sign up. If we discover an account that doesn't, we'll remove it.
Your account
You're responsible for your account: keeping your password secure, providing accurate information, and everything that happens under it. Tell us right away if you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else.
You can only have one account.
What Hythe is — and isn't
Hythe is a tool that helps adults make new platonic friendships through curated weekly matches and scheduled in-person meetings. It is not:
- A dating app
- A professional networking platform
- A way to find romantic, sexual, or commercial relationships
- A service that guarantees you'll match, meet, or become friends with anyone
We don't conduct criminal background checks on users, and we can't verify everything users say about themselves. Use your judgment and the safety tips in our Community Guidelines.
Meeting other users in person
Hythe helps you schedule meetings, but the meetings happen in the real world on your own terms. You decide whether to meet, where, and what to do.
You acknowledge that meeting strangers in person carries inherent risk. Hythe does not supervise these meetings and is not responsible for what happens during or after them. We recommend meeting in public places, telling a friend where you'll be, and trusting your instincts. See our Community Guidelines for more.
Your conduct
When you use Hythe, you agree to:
- Be truthful in your profile and messages
- Treat other users with respect
- Follow our Community Guidelines
- Comply with all applicable laws
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse other users
- Send sexual, romantic, or commercial messages
- Misrepresent your identity, age, or location
- Use Hythe to recruit for jobs, MLMs, religions, political campaigns, or any commercial purpose
- Solicit money, gifts, or personal favors from users
- Share other users' photos, messages, or personal information outside Hythe
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools
- Attempt to access another user's account or any non-public part of Hythe
- Use Hythe in any way that violates the law
Violating these rules can get your account suspended or banned.
Your content
You own what you post on Hythe. By posting it, you give Hythe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content for the sole purpose of operating the service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with other users.
You're responsible for your content. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
Reporting and moderation
If you see something that violates our Community Guidelines, report it through the app. We review reports and may remove content, suspend accounts, or ban users at our discretion.
We may also act on our own — without a report — if we find behavior we believe violates these Terms or harms the community.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or if continuing your access poses a risk to other users or to Hythe. We'll try to give you notice when we can, but we don't have to.
You can delete your account anytime in Settings. After deletion, your profile and content are removed within 30 days, subject to the retention rules in our Privacy Policy.
Service availability
Hythe is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it running, but we don't promise it will be available 24/7, free of bugs, or that any specific feature will work at any given time. We can change, suspend, or discontinue features without notice.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Hythe is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Information on the service is accurate or reliable
- You'll find matches, meetings, or friendships
- Other users are who they say they are
- Meetings arranged through Hythe will be safe, pleasant, or productive
You use Hythe at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Hythe and Noel DeLisle are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or anything else resulting from:
- Your use of, or inability to use, Hythe
- The conduct or content of other users, including conduct in any in-person meeting arranged through Hythe
- Unauthorized access to your account or content
- Any other matter related to Hythe
Our total liability to you for any claim related to Hythe will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Hythe and Noel DeLisle from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of your use of Hythe, your content, your conduct toward other users, or your violation of these Terms.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Any dispute that isn't resolved through good-faith discussion will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its applicable rules, in Knox County, Tennessee, or by remote hearing. You and Hythe each waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.
If arbitration isn't enforceable for a particular claim, that claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Knox County, Tennessee, and you and Hythe consent to that jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Hythe after a change means you accept the new Terms.
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are the entire agreement between you and Hythe. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
